Shed Long continues hot streak as Railroaders take four of six against Lake Country

CLEBURNE – The first place Cleburne Railroaders (31-22) faced the Lake Country DockHounds (21-32) at La Moderna Field this past week winning four games in the six-game series. Going into the series, Shed Long had recorded a hit in 12 straight games and was looking to continue this streak.

Shed Long was able to get a hit in Tuesday's 3-0 win, however, he failed to get a base hit on Wednesday but was able to draw a walk and has gotten on base in every game this series and now has reached base safely in 23 straight games. In this series, Long had four hits and walked nine times.

Last week Hill Alexander was named Pointstreak Batter of the Week for the American Association. Against Lake Country in this series, Alexander had five hits with four RBIs and is batting .302 on the season.

Bret Boswell continues to improve offensively this season after a slow start to the year, going 9-for-19 in this series with two home runs and four RBIs. Boswell is now batting .255 with eight home runs and 30 RBIs.

After a hot start the previous week, Korey Holland continues his hot offensive streak going 8-for-24 in this series, with two home runs and seven RBIs. In two weeks with Cleburne, Holland is hitting .362.

Carter Aldrete had eight hits with two home runs and six RBIs in this series. Aldrete has 13 home runs this season for Cleburne.

Johnathon Tripp (4-0) got the nod twice last week, earning the win in both starts. Tuesday in shutout fashion and in Sunday's blowout win. Combined, Tripp gave up just one run and seven hits, striking out 8 in 12 innings pitched.

Jacques Pucheau (5-2) struggled to keep it together in his start in Wednesday's 12-4 loss. Pucheau went 3 1/3 innings giving up 10 earned runs on eight hits earning just his second loss of the season. Pucheau had been on a winning streak, earning a win in five straight decisions and this was his first loss since May 23.

In Thursday's 9-6 win, starting pitcher Luke Boyd (4-0) pitched five innings giving up five hits and three earned runs while striking out four batters. Boyd has a 4.64 ERA in nine games this season for Cleburne.

Kade Mechals made two relief appearances for Cleburne this series, pitching 2 2/3 shutout innings and striking out three while earning his first win of the season on Friday. Mechals has given up just one run in 8 2/3 innings this season.

Kristian Scott came in to close for Cleburne in three games this series earning the save in each opportunity, pitching three shutout innings. Scott now has five saves on the year with a 1.95 ERA

Cleburne now travels to Illinois to take on the Kane County Cougars (29-22) at Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva, IL. Kane County, coming off a series against the Chicago Dogs, look to regain control of the Eastern Division sitting just one game back of Cleburne in the standings.
